History

The Nicholasville Police Department was formed February 8, 1812, the same day the city was incorporated. The office was on West Oak Street until the current location was built in 1984. In all the years the NPD has served the community only two officers have been killed in the line of duty. Officer Paul Ketron was shot to death while responding to a domestic violence call in 1941. Officer Burke Rhoads was killed in an automobile collision on his way to training in 2015.
