The Nicholasville Police Department was formed on February 8, 1812, the same day the city was incorporated. The original police department was located on West Oak Street until 1984 when the second building was built, and finally, the current location which was completed in 2022. The original agency grew in size over the years as the population and needs of the city increased. 

 

Currently, the Nicholasville Police Department consists of 74 sworn officers and 11 civilian personnel, along with multiple divisions and units that exist to serve the City of Nicholasville. Learn more about the services of NPD and the history of the department.
